Approach

I provide a person centered, non-judgemental presence, focusing on the present moment, becoming mindful of thoughts and reactions. As a Gestalt therapist, my style focuses on present moment awareness. Throughout life, we learned to cope with trauma and stressors in the way we need to survive. These patterns may no longer serve us in the present. I utilized strategies such as mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy and play with children, teens and adults. My work is to utilize your own strengths, body and imagination to adapt to a new situation and bring you closer to self-actualization.

For persons with learning challenges, things that come easy to others are challenging for them. The social world is highly abstract and always changing. For these types of people, they may misread social cues, have difficulty regulating themselves and have more anxiety. These behaviors are often met with shame from the outside world. As completing Social Thinking® level 1 training, I provide strategies on how to translate the complex social world into more concrete strategies.
